Shraddha murder case: Aaftab chopped victim's bones with 'saw-like object,' reveals autopsy
New Delhi, January 14: The autopsy report of Shraddha Walkar's bones, who was allegedly killed by her live-in partner Aaftab Amin Poonawalla, revealed that her body was chopped into 35 pieces with a saw-like object, according to Delhi Police on Saturday.
The police said on January 4 that hair and bones recovered from a forest area in Mehrauli, South Delhi, matched Shraddha's. The mitochondrial DNA report of the samples discovered in Mehrauli's forest area and sent for testing at the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting Diagnostic (CDFD) in Hyderabad matched that of the victim's father and brother, according to the Delhi Police.
The recent development in the case is thought to be extremely significant because it will allow the police to charge Aaftab.

Previously, the police were concerned about the lack of scientific evidence of Shraddha's body chopping, as well as the weapon used for the purpose.
That was before the AIIMS in Delhi released its autopsy report on the bone samples thought to be Shraddha's.
The police are now preparing to file a chargesheet against the accused in Saket Court, along with the 164 recorded statements of witnesses, including over 50 friends of Shraddha.
According to the police, doctors at AIIMS Delhi found 'extremely thin lines' at the corners of the studied bones, indicating that her body was chopped with a saw-like sharp object.
After chopping Shraddha's body, Aaftab allegedly bought a refrigerator to preserve the chopped pieces before disposing of the remains at various locations in and around Delhi at night for the next 18 days.
