Suresh Gopi to quit Modi 3.0 Cabinet? Actor-politician denies reports

PTC Web Desk: Actor turned politician Suresh Gopi was sworn in as a Union minister of state (MoS) in the Narendra Modi-led government on Sunday. However, hours after the oath-taking ceremony, reports stating that the actor wants quit surfaced online.

Suresh Gopi has now denied media reports that he wants to be relieved of the new responsibility.

He took to social media platform X on Monday and said “A few media platforms are spreading the incorrect news that I am going to resign from the Council of Ministers of the Modi Government. This is grossly incorrect. Under the leadership of PM @narendramodi Ji we are committed to the development and prosperity of Kerala.”

Suresh Gopi reportedly stated that he wants to be relieved of his position and work as an MP for the people of Thrissur, adding that he had signed films and must complete them at any cost.

"I want to be a member of Parliament. I did not ask for anything. I said I didn't need this post. I believe I shall be freed of my post soon. There are no issues with Thrissur voters. They are aware of this, and as an MP, I will deliver excellent results for them. I have to do my films at any cost," Suresh Gopi told a regional channel in Delhi following the oath-taking ceremony.

However, Gopi's office later stated that he had never said this. Misconceptions are being spread by a section of the media. Suresh Gopi would offer a clarification following portfolio allocation, it added.

Suresh Gopi, a leading Malayalam film actor, made history by becoming the first Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP to be elected from Kerala in the recently concluded Lok Sabha Elections. Suresh Gopi won the Thrissur Lok Sabha seat with 74,686 votes.
