Suspected drone activity near International Border triggers security search in Jammu’s Samba
PTC Web Desk: A large-scale security operation was launched late Monday night in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir after authorities detected suspected drone movement near International Border, officials said.
According to officials, unusual aerial activity believed to involve a drone was observed in the Daboh area along the border, prompting security agencies to heighten alert levels and initiate countermeasures.
Following the alert, joint teams comprising the Indian Army, Border Security Force and Jammu and Kashmir Police began a coordinated search operation in the area. The operation was aimed at ensuring that no weapons, explosives or narcotics had been dropped by the suspected drone.
Security personnel intensified monitoring in the border belt, with additional forces deployed to sensitive locations. Teams conducted thorough searches in agricultural fields and other vulnerable spots near the border.
Officials said the operation continued overnight, with forces combing the area using surveillance equipment along with ground patrols.
Separately, security teams also carried out search operations in Bhai Nallah, Lala Chack and Malani localities of Rajpura in Samba district after receiving inputs regarding suspicious movement in the region.
Authorities said the searches were conducted as a preventive step to rule out any possible infiltration attempt or smuggling activity across the border.
In recent years, security agencies have reported several instances of drone sightings along the Jammu sector of the border. Officials say such drones are frequently used by cross-border networks to drop arms, ammunition, or narcotics into Indian territory.
Security agencies have further tightened surveillance along the border, and an investigation is underway to determine the source and purpose of the suspected drone movement.
