Telangana: Several workers feared trapped as tunnel roof collapses, rescue operation underway
PTC News Desk: Several workers are feared trapped after the roof of a tunnel in Telangana's Nagarkurnool district collapsed on Saturday, according to police officials.
At least six to eight workers are feared trapped as per information given by the company engaged in the work, a senior police official said. However the exact number of the trapped workers has not been ascertained yet.
According to the reports, the incident occurred due to the slippage of concrete segment that was used to seal seepage at the 14-km inlet of the tunnel.
The state's Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Irrigation Advisor Aditya Nath Das, IG Sathyanarayana and DG Fire Services GV Narayan Rao are overseeing relief operations at the spot.
