Uttar Pradesh: Man stabs seven-month pregnant wife to death, calls police himself
PTC News Desk: A man stabbed his seventh-month pregnant wife to death inside a locked room in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut. The husband, Ravi Shankar later called the police himself after killing his wife, Sapna.
According to the police, Sapna had been residing at her sister Pinky's marital home in Amhera for past five months. She had moved there following continued discord with her husband, Ravi, whom she had married in January this year.
On Saturday morning, Ravi went to Sapna’s home in Amhera and asked to speak with her. He led her to a room on the first floor and locked the door behind them. Shortly afterward, screams and cries for help were heard from inside.
Family members and neighbors stated they heard Sapna pleading for her life, but Ravi ignored her cries and violently attacked her with a knife. Police said he slit her throat and continued stabbing her even after she had died. According to her brother-in-law, Sapna was seven months pregnant at the time.
When the police arrived, they found Ravi Shankar sitting next to his wife's body, with blood splattered across the room. Ravi was immediately arrested from the crime scene and Sapna's body was sent for post-mortem examination.
An FIR was registered against Ravi.
