Watch: Train passenger's heated exchange with official over 'halal tea' goes viral
Viral Video: A video of a heated discussion between an Indian railways official and a passenger angry after being offered halal-certified tea has gone viral. The passenger in the video asked about halal-certified tea and why it was being offered during the month of Sawan. As shown in the video, the staff explained to the upset passenger that tea is, in any case, vegetarian.
"Sawan month has begun. And you're serving us halal-certified tea?" asked the passenger. "What is that?" the officer said as he examined the sachet.
"You clarify what halal-certified means. We should be aware of it. We know what an ISI certificate is; explain what a halal certificate is," the passenger said.
"It's masala tea premix. Allow me to explain. This is completely vegetarian," stated the railway staff. "But what exactly is halal certified?" "I'll have to do puja after this," stated the passenger.
"Are you making a video? This is 100% vegeterian. Chai veg hi hota hai, sir," the railways added.
"I'm not interested in religious certification." Please keep these thoughts in mind. Then put the Swastik certificate," the passenger said. "Okay, will keep that in mind," the staff replied.
