Weather update: Delhiites wake up to chilling morning, 'very poor' air quality
Weather update: Following a slight drop in minimum temperature, Delhi woke up to foggy conditions on Sunday morning. At 5:30 a.m., the temperature in the nation's capital was 7 degrees Celsius.
Earlier, on Saturday, Delhi recorded a temperature of 7.4 degrees Celsius at 5:30 am.
Meanwhile, the national capital continued to witness 'very poor' air quality on Sunday morning, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) at IGI Airport (T3) was 311 at 8 a.m. The AQI in the New Moti Bagh region was 331, putting it in the 'very poor' category. Punjabi Bagh's air quality was in 'very poor' category at 382.
Anand Vihar's AQI was 385, putting it in the 'very poor' category.
As the temperature dropped in New Delhi, the city's homeless sought shelter in night shelters. One such shelter is located in Sarai Kale Khan and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and offers bathing facilities, three meals a day, and medical treatment, including a clinic and medicine.
