Navjot Singh Sidhu to be Punjab Congress president, says Harish Rawat
Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu to be the new Punjab Congress president, said Harish Rawat, Punjab affairs incharge on Thursday. As per the report, Navjot Singh Sidhu will replace Sunil Jakkar to become Punjab Congress president. Reportedly, there would be two working presidents under Navjot Singh Sidhu. One of them would be Dalit face and the another one would be Hindu face. The Congress leadership wanted everything to be settled as the party was looking to end the crisis in the state unit. Recently, Sidhu had slammed Captain Amarinder Singh over the Punjab power crisis. Last month, he had said that he was ready to work with Singh only if the Chief Minister fulfill promises made to the people before the last assembly elections. The compromise between Amarinder Singh and Navjot Sidhu comes a week after Punjab Chief Minister met Congress chief Sonia Gandhi in Delhi. Punjab CM and Navjot Sidhu have been in a tussle since the 2017 election as Sidhu hoped to become Deputy Chief Minister but it was reportedly scuttled by Singh. -PTC News
