New school timings implemented in Punjab as temperature soars
Chandigarh, April 29: Amid the scorching heat and prolonged power cuts across Punjab, the Punjab School Education Department has rescheduled school timings across the state. It has also announced the date of summer vacations in schools. The orders will be applicable to all government, government-aided and private schools in the state.

All primary schools will function from 7 am to 11 am; middle, high & senior secondary ones from 7 am to 12.30 pm.
Also, the schools will remain closed from May 15 to June 30 but online classes will be held from May 16-31.
As per information, the schedule of schools from May 2, 2022 to May 14, 2022 has been changed. As per the orders issued by the Punjab School Education Department, the primary schools will now be open from 7 am to 11 am. Middle/high/senior secondary schools will be open from 7 am to 12.30 pm.
Besides, summer vacations will begin from May 15 and continue till June 30. However, the Department of Education has made it mandatory for all schools to conduct online classes from May 16 to May 31.
A letter regarding these orders has been issued by the Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Punjab, to all District Education Officers and school heads of Punjab.
