PM Narendra Modi unveils statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Pune
Pune (Maharashtra), March 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Maharashtra's Pune on Saturday unveiled the 9.5 feet tall statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj situated on the premises of Pune Municipal Corporation.
Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Maharashtra Assembly Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis and Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mohol were among the attendees of the event.
According to an official statement, "The Statue is made up of 1,850 kg of gunmetal and is about 9.5 feet tall."
Notably, Prime Minister Modi is on a one-day visit to Pune where he will take part in various events including the inauguration of the Pune Metro line and attending Golden Jubilee celebrations of Symbiosis University.
Detailing about the Pune Metro Rail Project, the statement added "This project is an endeavour to provide world-class infrastructure for urban mobility in Pune. The foundation stone of the project was also laid by the Prime Minister on December 24, 2016. Prime Minister will inaugurate a 12 km stretch of the total 32.2 km Pune metro rail project. The entire project is being built at a total cost of more than Rs 11,400 crore."

PM Modi will also inaugurate and inspect an exhibition at Garware Metro Station and will undertake a metro ride from there to Anandnagar Metro Station.
He will lay the foundation stone at around 12 noon and inaugurate multiple developmental projects along with laying the foundation stone of rejuvenation and pollution abatement of the Mula-Mutha River projects.
The rejuvenation will be done in a 9 Km stretch of the river, costing over Rs. 1,080 crore. It will include projects such as river edge protection, a sewage interceptor network, public amenities, and boating activities, among others.
