PTC News Desk: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, launched a sharp attack on the previous Congress-led government in Haryana, accusing it of being controlled by "dealers, dalaals (brokers), and damaad (sons-in-law)." Speaking at a rally in Rewari on Friday, ahead of the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, Shah alleged that corruption and favoritism were rampant during the Congress regime before the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power.

Shah stated, “The rule of dealers, dalaals, and damaads prevailed under Congress. In contrast, the BJP government has eliminated the role of brokers and has no room for favoritism.” He further emphasized the BJP’s efforts in governance, pointing to various initiatives that have benefitted Haryana under the party's leadership.

Criticism of Congress on MSP and farmer issues

Amit Shah also took a direct swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of misleading farmers over the Minimum Support Price (MSP) issue. He said, “Rahul Baba doesn't even know the difference between Rabi and Kharif crops. Some NGO recently told him that talking about MSP will get him votes. Congress governments across the country have made false promises about MSP. The BJP government in Haryana buys 24 crops at MSP, while Congress should clarify which of their governments ever did the same.”

Shah further challenged Congress leaders to compare their track record with the BJP, which, he claimed, had consistently prioritized the welfare of farmers through fair crop procurement policies.

Shah also criticised Rahul Gandhi for his comments on reservations for SC, ST, and OBC communities during his visit to the United States. According to Shah, Gandhi had suggested an intention to end the reservation system, which Shah claimed was an accusation Congress often leveled against the BJP.

“Rahul Baba goes abroad and talks about ending reservations. He accused us of doing it, but now says in English that he will end reservation. Let me tell you, as long as there is even one BJP MP in Parliament, you will not be able to end reservations,” Shah asserted.

The Haryana Assembly election is set to take place in a single phase on October 5, with results to be declared on October 8. Amit Shah’s remarks come as part of the BJP’s campaign efforts to secure another term in the state, with the party highlighting its record of governance and launching pointed criticisms of the Congress.

The BJP is positioning itself as the party that has eradicated corruption and broker-politics, while portraying Congress as a party of false promises and ineffective leadership.
