PTC News Desk: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has raised concerns over certain security protocol “violations” allegedly committed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during his travels, according to official sources.

The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, is provided ‘Z plus (ASL)’ category armed protection by the CRPF’s VIP security wing.

He is guarded by a close cover of about 10–12 armed commandos whenever he is on the move, with the force also conducting advance reconnaissance of locations under the Advanced Security Liaison (ASL) system.

Sources said the CRPF’s VIP security unit recently wrote to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, flagging instances of Gandhi making “unscheduled movements without prior intimation” during his domestic tours as well as ahead of his departure abroad. They added that such letters are routine reminders and have been issued in the past as well.

The CRPF stressed that such unnotified movements increase the risk to a “high-risk” protectee and emphasized the importance of strictly adhering to established security guidelines.

The communication also reiterated the protocols outlined in the central ‘yellow book’ on VIP security and the necessity of keeping the security wing informed at all times.
