K Kavitha expelled from BRS by father K Chandrashekar Rao over remarks against party
PTC News Desk: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party president K Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday expelled his daughter K Kavitha from the party with immediate effect.
The decision was taken by former Telangana Chief Minister, who cited that her remarks and activities stand against the party policies and principles and demanded a disciplinary action.
Just a day before her suspension, Kavitha triggered turmoil within the BRS by openly accusing senior party members of tarnishing KCR’s image. She alleged that T Harish Rao and former MP Megha Krishna Reddy had branded her father with a “corruption tag,” and claimed Harish Rao along with Santosh Kumar were plotting to sideline her.
On August 22, while she was abroad, Kavitha was suddenly removed as honorary president of the Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham (TBGKS). She denounced the move as a politically motivated conspiracy by party insiders.
According to her, the election was deliberately conducted at the party office without her knowledge and possibly in violation of labour laws. “I was targeted simply for questioning the party’s internal functioning,” she said, directly blaming certain leaders. She also linked her removal to a leaked letter she had written to her father and party chief after the BRS’s silver jubilee meeting.
In the letter, Kavitha had expressed disappointment at KCR’s brief two-minute speech, noting that it led to speculation of a possible BJP alliance. “Even I felt you should have spoken more strongly against BJP,” she wrote, adding that she herself had suffered because of the BJP.
Kavitha later questioned how the letter was leaked and accused party insiders of deliberately weakening the organisation. “I’ve written hundreds of letters—what’s wrong with that?” she asked, alleging that instead of investigating the leak, the leadership had turned against her. She further claimed that false messages were conveyed to her in KCR’s name and cautioned against attempts to merge the BRS with the BJP—something she said she opposed even during her time in jail.
