Lok Sabha elections Phase II: Security personnel are on high alert in Jammu ahead of voting in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Jammu and Kashmir Police's Special Operations Group are patrolling vulnerable areas to foil any nefarious plans of adversaries.

The J&K Police are using drones to monitor the area, and special dogs are being used to clear any IED threats prior to the vote.

Terrorists recently killed a civilian named Mohammad Razaq in a targeted attack in Rajouri's Shahdra Sharief area.

In the aftermath of the incident, the J&K police are on high alert and preparing to counter any such attacks.

Jammu will vote in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 26.

Udhampur polled on April 19 (Phase 1), while Anantnag-Rajouri, Srinagar, and Baramulla poll on May 7, 13, and 20, respectively. The votes will be counted on June 4.

In 2019, the Lok Sabha election was held for six seats in Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP won three seats, and the National Conference won the remaining three.

This is the first general election in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370.

Article 370, which granted the former state special constitutional privileges, was repealed by Parliament with the passage of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act of 2019. In August 2019, the state of Jammu and Kashmir was divided and reorganised into two union territories: Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
