Mohali, May 3: Sukhbir Singh Badal, president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), has appointed Ravinder Singh Nagi as chief political advisor to the party. With Nagi switching loyality to the Akali fold in presence of senior leaders on Friday deals another blow to the Congress party, as he earlier served as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. Present at the event were senior leaders of the Akali Dal.

Ravinder Singh Nagi's extensive experience includes serving as the RTI Commissioner of Punjab during the Akali-BJP Government's tenure. Additionally, he held the position of chairman of the Ramgarhia Welfare Board Punjab under the leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh in 2021.

Possessing significant influence among the Backward Classes across Punjab, Nagi's entry into the Shiromani Akali Dal is expected to provide a substantial boost to the party's prospects. His deep-rooted connections and political acumen are likely to enhance the SAD's outreach and strengthen its position in the state's political landscape, especially in the run-up to the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
