RJD alleges power cut at 'strong booths', Election Commission calls allegations baseless

PTC News Desk: Amid the ongoing voting for phase 1 of Bihar Assembly Elections, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) alleged that electricity is being cut during the polling, seeking a strong action by Election Commission.

“During the voting in the first phase, electricity is being cut off intermittently at the strong booths of the Mahagathbandhan with the intention of slowing down the voting. Slow voting is being deliberately caused," said RJD in a post.

In response, the Election Commission called the allegations 'baseless' and 'misleading'.

“This allegation is completely baseless and misleading. Voting is taking place smoothly at all polling stations in Bihar. The Election Commission of India is following all standard protocols to ensure that the voting process is fair, transparent, and uninterrupted. There is no basis for such misleading propaganda," said the Chief Electoral Officer, Bihar.

Meanwhile, reacting to the allegation, Union Minister Chirag Paswan said, “The opposition always keeps putting out false allegations when voting is going on."

Voting is taking place in 121 constituencies across 18 districts, most of them south of the Ganga with key contenders including Tejaswi Yadav, his brother Tej Pratap, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary in the fray.
