Who is Sushil Kumar Rinku? Sushil Kumar Rinku, a former Congress MLA and AAP’s MP political journey recently took a significant turn when he decided to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. His decision to switch parties reflects a strategic move to align himself with a different political ideology and platform.

After joining BJP, Sushil Kumar Rinku says, "It is true that the promises I made to the people of Jalandhar were not fulfilled because my party (AAP) did not support me. I am impressed with the working style of PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah..."


Known for his active political journey in Indian politics, Sushil Kumar Rinku rose to prominence through his involvement in various social and political activities. Rinku's political journey began with his association with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), where he contributed significantly to the party's initiatives and campaigns

He previously belonged to Congress. In 2017, he was elected as a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly from Jalandhar West.

EDUCATION

Rinku completed his graduation from DAV College in Jalandhar, and has been actively involved in politics since his student days. He was a prominent member of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) during his college days.

POLITICAL TIMELINE

In 2002, Sushil Kumar Rinku began his political career as a ground-level worker during the Lok Sabha Elections. Four years later, in 2006, he successfully contested and won the position of Municipal Councilor, securing victory by a margin of 2500 votes. 

Regarding his family background, Sushil Kumar Rinku comes from a lineage deeply rooted in the Indian National Congress, with his family serving the party for approximately 45 years. His uncle and father actively participated in numerous assembly and parliamentary elections.

 

In 2017, he was elected as a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly from Jalandhar West.
On April 5, 2023, Sushil Kumar Rinku joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

During his tenure with the AAP, Rinku held several positions within the party structure, showcasing his leadership skills and dedication to grassroots activism. He played a crucial role in advocating for the party's ideology and policies, garnering support from the public.

Rinku's recent transition to the BJP suggests a shift in his political allegiance and objectives, potentially motivated by various factors such as ideological differences, personal aspirations, or strategic considerations.
