3 killed as massive fire breaks out in Bathinda mattress factory
PTC News Desk: A massive fire broke out at a mattress factory in the village of Gehri Buttar on Dabwali Road near Bathinda, killing three workers. The fire spread swiftly, and flames could be seen from afar.
The Bathinda Fire Brigade was rushed to the scene, but the flames were too strong to contain easily. The massive fire caused the factory's roof to collapse. Given the gravity of the situation, the district government asked more fire units from Dabwali, Haryana, to help extinguish the fire.
To keep the situation under control, several police officers were deployed to the area. Despite their attempts, three workers were unable to escape the fire.
Balkar Singh, who was working in the facility at the time, said he and four others were setting up a ramp when the fire broke out. He and one other man were able to escape, but Lakhveer Singh, Ninder Singh, and Vijay Singh were unable to do so.
Assistant Deputy Commissioner Narinder Singh, who arrived on the scene, stated that more fire vehicles from nearby districts were dispatched to assist with the firefighting efforts. Although the fire has been brought under control, three workers were tragically killed. Their bodies have been taken to the hospital.
Authorities are now investigating to determine how the fire started.
