Chandigarh gas leak: Panic and chaos at Chandigarh private school after gas pipeline leak near school; 1,600 students evacuated
Chandigarh gas leak: Panic, chaos, tensions and scare gripped in Chandigarh Sector 40 after a gas pipeline along the wall adjacent to a private school.
The shocking incident unfolded on Wednesday morning near Sharda Sarvhitkari Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 40 in Chandigarh and at least 1,600 school children were evacuated from the school and sent home safely.
As per the statement by school teachers and authorities, the gas pipeline leak has been caused due to some excavation work with heavy JCB machine work which was conducted in the vicinity of the school.
The repair work of the pipeline has been started and no loss of life or property has been reported.
In the official statement by school principal, she says, “The gas leak occurred due to the JCB machine at around 8 am in the morning. After the gas leak, the students were evacuated and were safely sent home.”
“The parents were informed immediately and students were departed safely to their home by assigned buses, autos, cabs and some of them were picked by their parents,” principal added.
