Buses timetable row: Passengers traveling from different cities to Chandigarh experiences inconvenience as Punjab Roadways Transport Corporation (PRTC) and PUNBUS did not proceed to Chandigarh and halted at the Phase 6 bus stand in Mohali, where Chandigarh-bound passengers were left to arrange their own transportation to reach the Union Territory

Approximately 400 buses, originally destined for Chandigarh, were redirected to the Phase 6 bus stand in Mohali.

Additionally, a total of 72 long routes connecting Chandigarh with different parts of Punjab, with buses traveling along these routes., Chandigarh operates 500 local buses within the tricity and suburban areas, contributing to the region's public transportation network.

The PRTC and PUNBUS Contract Workers Union, Punjab declared that buses will no longer enter Chandigarh, whether they are transporting passengers from various corners of Punjab to Chandigarh or vice versa. Instead, services will be redirected to Mohali.

This comes after the bus timetable issue and grievances regarding the kilometer agreement between the Chandigarh administration, Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU), and the bus operators

The PRTC and PUNBUS Contract Workers Union alleges that CTU have not renewed the kilometer agreement beyond 1000 kilometers, resulting in buses being operated over longer distances without adequate compensation.

Additionally, workers unions express dissatisfaction with the increased fees at ISBT-43 Bus Stand. Furthermore, they allege arbitrary actions by CTU regarding bus timetables.

The joint decision between PRTC and PUNBUS Contract Workers Union caused inconvenience to passengers, particularly those traveling between Chandigarh and Punjab. Passengers departing from Chandigarh now travel to Mohali to catch buses, while those arriving from Punjab have to arrange alternative transportation, such as auto-rickshaws or other buses, to reach Chandigarh from Mohali.
