Punjab Cabinet decisions: Govt announces special session at Anandpur Sahib on Nov 24 in tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji
PTC Web Desk: The Punjab Cabinet met under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday. Following the meeting, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema addressed the media to announce a series of important decisions taken at the meeting, which are aimed at boosting employment, strengthening administrative efficiency and expediting the state’s development agenda.
Cheema revealed that the government has approved a separate cadre for recruitments in the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB). This move is expected to resolve long-standing issues related to deputation and ensure that nearly 3,000 employees are no longer affected by routine transfers that earlier created vacancies filled by candidates from other states.
In Malerkotla district, the Cabinet has sanctioned three posts in the Sports Department.
Additionally, the Cooperation Department will see the creation of 11 new posts, including those of Registrar and Deputy Registrar.
For Doraha Community Health Care Centre (CHCC), the government has approved 51 new posts to strengthen healthcare services.
The retirement age of the dental teaching faculty has also been increased from 62 to 65 years to retain experienced professors.
The government further revived 16 posts of Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) and sanctioned six posts for the Additional Family Judge Court.
The Cabinet also finalised a pending decision related to the division of industrial plots under the IBC Department. As per the new rule, plot owners in industrial parks developed by GAMADA or PUDA will now be eligible to divide their plots, with the minimum size fixed at 500 square yards. A processing fee of Rs 50 per square yard will be payable to the government.
In another decision, owners of low-impact de-listed properties have been permitted to construct residences on 400 square yards, provided the total land area is at least 4,000 sq ft (444.44 sq yd). Other existing conditions will continue to apply.
Under the Social Security and Child Development Department, the government will soon frame comprehensive rules for transgender welfare.
The Cabinet has also approved a project worth Rs 53 crore to distribute sanitary napkins to underprivileged girls through anganwadi centres.
Cheema announced that a special session dedicated to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji will be held at Anandpur Sahib on November 24. The session will focus exclusively on discussions related to the revered Sikh Guru, with routine legislative rules temporarily suspended for the event.
