Another encounter as Punjab ANTF raids notorious drug peddler Sunny Singh’s hideout in Ludhiana
PTC Web Desk: In a major crackdown against the drug mafia, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Punjab Police launched a high-risk operation early Friday morning in Jagroan, Ludhiana. The operation targeted the hideout of notorious drug trafficker Sunny Singh at Gorsian village and resulted in an intense gunfight between the police and the accused.
According to police sources, the ANTF had received credible intelligence that Sunny Singh and his accomplices were preparing to traffic a large consignment of narcotics from the area. Acting swiftly, the ANTF team reached the location, but the accused opened fire on the police team without warning. Sunny Singh, along with two of his accomlices, launched a deadly attack on the officials.
The police retaliated, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire. During the encounter, one of Sunny Singh’s accomplices, Devinder Singh, sustained bullet injuries and was immediately rushed to the hospital. His condition is reported to be stable, and treatment is ongoing under tight police security.
Several other accomplices managed to escape from the scene amidst the chaos. A search operation is underway to apprehend the absconding suspects. The Punjab Police have cordoned off the entire area, and multiple teams have been deployed for raids and intensive patrolling.
The police confirmed that Sunny Singh and his gang have multiple criminal cases registered against them, including serious charges related to drug smuggling and possession of illegal firearms.
Meanwhile, despite the fierce encounter, no police personnel were injured during the operation.
