Punjab releases holiday calendar for 2026: 31 holidays announced; 5 fall on Sunday | Check list
PTC Web Desk: The Punjab Government has released the official holiday calendar for 2026, announcing a total of 31 government holidays for the year. The list, prepared by the Department of Personnel, notes that five of these holidays will fall on a Sunday.
As per the notification, all government offices, municipal bodies, schools, colleges and other state institutions will remain closed on the declared holidays. January will see only one official holiday, with Republic Day on January 26 scheduled for a Monday. February has two holidays: Sri Guru Ravidas Jayanti on February 1 and Maha Shivaratri on February 15. However, both dates coincide with Sundays.
March and April are set to be relatively lighter work months, with five government holidays each, the highest in the year.
The government has also listed 13 restricted holidays for employees to choose from. Overall, the 2026 calendar shows that government offices in Punjab will function for 244 working days.
