Punjab reshuffles top cops, appoints G Nageswara Rao as New Vigilance chief
PTC Web Desk: In a significant move following the Delhi elections 2025, the Punjab Government has made major changes within the state police force. Vigilance Chief Varinder Kumar has been removed from his position, with ADGP G Nageswara Rao taking over the role. Official orders regarding this reshuffle have been issued.
This change comes just two days after the Punjab Government directed all department heads, Deputy Commissioners (DCs), and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to maintain a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
Varinder Kumar, who was serving as the Vigilance chief, has not been given a new posting yet. He has been instructed to report to the Punjab DGP office. Notably, G Nageswara Rao, a 1995 batch IPS officer, is junior to Varinder Kumar. The Punjab Home Department has officially issued the transfer orders.
