Punjab: Sarpanch's daughter arrested with heroin after old drug-dealing video goes viral
PTC Web Desk: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking under the ongoing anti-drug drive, the Punjab Police have arrested a woman named Parmjeet Kaur alias Pammo, daughter of the sarpanch of Nahar Pur village in Kartarpur. The arrest was made after an old video showing her allegedly weighing narcotics went viral on social media.
According to police officials, Parmjeet Kaur was apprehended during a police checkpoint operation in Kartarpur on Tuesday. She was caught in possession of 18 gram of heroin, including 3 gram seized initially and an additional 15 gram found during her search.
The now-viral video allegedly features Parmjeet Kaur holding a small bag suspected to contain heroin, along with an electronic weighing scale, while a man stands beside her.
Parmjeet Kaur has a criminal history, with three previous FIRs, including one registered in March 2022 under the NDPS Act. Following her recent arrest, a new case has been registered under Sections 21 and 61 of the NDPS Act.
When asked whether any of her family members or accomplices are involved in the drug trade, the SHO said the investigation was ongoing and further connections were being probed.
