Punjab: Two members of Bambiha Gang arrested with four pistols and 16 live cartridges
Chandigarh, October 4: In a major breakthrough, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) in a joint operation with the SAS Nagar Police arrested two accomplices of Bambiha Gang on Wednesday, said Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav.
Those arrested have been identified as Avtar Singh, alias Gora, of Sewe Wala village in Faridkot and Ajay Kumar, alias Preet Pandit, of Gadapur village in Patiala. Four pistols — three .32 bore and one .30 bore and six magazines and 16 live cartridges were also recovered from their possession. A Splendor motorcycle was also impounded.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said following a tip-off, a team of the AGTF under the supervision of ADGP Promod Ban, led by AIG AGTF Sandeep Goel, conducted a joint operation with the SAS Nagar Police and arrested two members of the Bambiha gang from Old Ambala-Kalka road in Dhakoli. They were travelling on their motorcycle. The operation was assisted by DSP AGTF Bikram Singh Brar.
He said Avtar Gora, who was a close associate of gangster Gurbax Sewewal, was declared the proclaimed offender (PO) in two criminal cases, including in a sensational double murder case that took place in Jaitu in 2014.
AIG, AGTF, Sandeep Goel said both accused were involved in providing logistics support, hideouts and weapons to the members of the Bambiha gang and were planning to commit sensational crime in the state.
A case under Section 25(6)(7) of the Arms Act has been registered at the Dhakoli police station in SAS Nagar.
