Viral video row: Jagman Samra releases fresh video challenging CM Mann to live debate
PTC News Desk: The controversy surrounding a viral video allegedly linked to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann intensified after Canada-based NRI Jagmandeep Singh, also known as Jagman Samra, released two more video statements and challenged the Chief Minister to a live one-on-one debate.
Samra had earlier sparked a political row by claiming that Swati Maliwal had shared the controversial video with him.
Samra, who allegedly escaped from custody while undergoing treatment at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital in Faridkot in February 2022 and later fled to Canada through Nepal, claimed in his latest videos that he has contacts in "Lutyens' Delhi" and access to influential political circles near the residences of the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister.
In a previous video, Samra said that he and others who had received the viral clip approached a Jathedar and requested him to take notice of the matter. He further claimed that the Jathedar later informed him that the video had been examined by a forensic laboratory. According to Samra, he could provide details of the laboratory and its report, although he did not identify which Jathedar he was referring to.
The issue gained further attention on June 15 when the Akal Takht issued an edict against Chief Minister Mann regarding the contents of the purported video. The action followed a statement by Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, who claimed that two forensic laboratories had verified the authenticity of the video, which allegedly featured a person resembling the Chief Minister.
In response, the Punjab Government ordered its own forensic examination of the video.
However, the controversy took another turn when police in Gurugram arrested two individuals and alleged that the forensic report claiming the video's authenticity had been fabricated.
The matter remains under investigation, with competing claims over the video's authenticity and the validity of the forensic reports at the centre of the dispute.
