YouTube suspends SGPC’s official channel for one week over policy violation; Live Gurbani shifted to alternate channel
PTC Web Desk: YouTube has suspended the official channel of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), SGPC, Sri Amritsar, for one week citing a violation of its content policies. The suspension was enforced on the evening of November 19, during the live broadcast of Rehras Sahib from Sri Harmandir Sahib.
According to YouTube, the action stems from objections raised over a video uploaded on October 31, 2025, in which a Sikh preacher discussed historical events related to Sikh warriors and references connected to the 1984 period. The platform flagged the video as a breach of its content guidelines.
SGPC submits clarification to YouTube
The SGPC has formally submitted a detailed explanation to YouTube, asserting that the content was purely historical and rooted in Sikh tradition. The organisation stated that the video aimed to share authentic Sikh history and religious teachings, and did not intend to violate any platform rules. The committee said it is awaiting YouTube’s response and hopes the issue will be resolved soon.
Livestream shifted to SGPC’s alternate channel
The SGPC has urged devotees around the world to join its second official YouTube channel, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Amritsar , for uninterrupted daily live Gurbani Kirtan from Sri Harmandir Sahib.
The organisation assured the sangat that the live broadcast will continue seamlessly on the alternate channel until the main channel is restored.
