Punjab budget session 2020-2021: SAD protests against power scams and electricity bills
Punjab budget session of the 15th Vidhan Sabha started on Thursday with obituary references to the prominent personalities including eminent writers Dalip Kaur Tiwana and Jaswant Kanwal and also singer Lachi Bawa. Afterwards, the house also paid tributes to the children who died in a fire tragedy in Longowal and two people who passed away during the crackers explosion in a religious procession at Tarn Taran.
Earlier, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) staged a protest outside the Punjab Vidhan Sabha against the power scam. The protest was led by senior SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia, who targeted the state government of putting additional burden on the consumers.
Meanwhile, SAD leader NK Sharma was also present during the demonstration against power scams and electricity bills. The SAD MLAs and party workers had put a string of bulbs around their neck.
While sharing the video, Bikram Singh Majithia wrote: "During the assembly budget session, Congress government will have to respond over power scams and huge power bills sent to the people of Punjab. We will not tolerate this dictatorship with the people of Punjab at any cost."
Recently, Shiromani Akali Dal staged a Rosh Dharna in Amritsar on February 13, against the state government for not keeping the promises that it made during the elections. Also, SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal has slammed Captain Amarinder Singh and asked the people if he deserved to be called Chief Minister?

The budget session has started on Thursday (February 20) and will run till Feb 28.
