Chandigarh, February 12: The Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, on Saturday served notices on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress for violations in videos telecasted/uploaded by the parties ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections 2022. In a letter to the AAP, the CEO said," It has come to the notice of this office that a video containing appeal by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) voters not to give their votes to SAD due to reasons mentioned in the video itself, has been uploaded/telecasted on various social media platforms. It has been informed that the script of this video is not the same which was approved by state-level MCMC. Some content was not approved by the state-level MCMC committee, which is sheer violation of the model code of conduct and MCMC guidelines." Further, the Congress has been issued a notice for distorting Sikh prayer 'Nanak Naam Charhdi Kala, Tere Bhane Sarbat Da Bhala' for political advertisement, thereby hurting Sikh sentiments. The CEO said it was in gross violation of the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections 2022.
