Punjab Elections 2022: No new tax will be imposed in state, says Kejriwal

Punjab Assembly Elections 2022: Ahead of crucial state polls, Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday promised that new tax will not be imposed in Punjab after his party is voted to power. “No new tax will be imposed in Punjab after we came into power,” said Kejriwal while addressing a rally in Jalandhar. Kejriwal, ahead of assembly elections, had addressed another rally earlier and claimed when his party forms government in Punjab in 2022, the annual financial budget of the state will be prepared with the suggestions of the public. He also added that his government prepares the budget by considering the public opinion in Delhi. Kejriwal further added that the AAP government of Delhi has started deliberations for the budget for fiscal 2022-23. To prepare the budget, the common people and businessmen of Delhi are being consulted. On Saturday, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said that a law barring religious conversions should be made but nobody should be wrongly harassed. While speaking to a crowd in Jalandhar, Kejriwal stated that religion is a personal affair, "however, a law against religious conversions should be enacted, no one should be harassed. It is wrong to convert people by intimidating them." Several states have passed laws prohibiting forcible religious conversions, including Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. Several other states, including Assam, are considering similar laws. If elected, Kejriwal also promised that the AAP government would begin doorstep delivery service and Mohalla clinics. "We will make 16000 clinics and renovate hospitals in Punjab," promised AAP national convener. "Like Delhi, Punjab too will get all the benefits," he said. Punjab will vote on February 20 and the counting of votes will take place on March 10. Also Read | Budget 2022: Ahead of session, Rajya Sabha releases Code of Conduct for members -PTC News
