Islamabad peace talks: Iranian delegation brings 'blood soaked bags, shoes' of Minab 168 children on flight to Pak

Islamabad peace talks:  Blood-stained school bags, shoes, white flowers, and photographs of victims from Minab accompanied an Iranian delegation led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on a flight to Pakistan for peace talks with the United States. Placed in the front row of the aircraft en route to Islamabad, these items served as a stark reminder of the human toll of the ongoing Middle East conflict.

Sharing an image on social media platform X, Ghalibaf wrote, “My companions on this flight #Minab168,” alongside a photo showing him looking at pictures of the children and their belongings. The delegation, named “Minab 168,” is travelling to Islamabad for negotiations with the US in hopes of ending the war. The name pays tribute to the schoolchildren reportedly killed in US-Israel strikes on the first day of the conflict.

The Embassy of Iran in South Africa reshared the image, stating, “We will never forget the children of Minab, ever.”

According to reports, more than 160 children were allegedly killed on February 28 during US-Israeli strikes in Minab in southern Iran. The strike is said to have hit the Shajareh Tayyibeh girls’ elementary school on the first day of the war.

Days later, Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi shared an aerial image purportedly showing mass graves being prepared for the victims, describing them as “innocent” girls. However, the authenticity of the image could not be independently verified.

Condemning the attack, Araghchi said the school was bombed in broad daylight while full of students, calling the incident a “cold-blooded” act. He added that such actions against the Iranian people would not go unanswered.
