Punjab Farmers to allow Goods Trains to run, protests to continue
Farmers Protest against Farm Laws 2020: Punjab Farmers Union has decided that only Goods Trains will be allowed to run during the Rail Roko agitation despite being satisfied with Punjab government's decision of rejecting the Centre’s farm laws 2020. Satnam Singh Sahni, the spokesperson of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) Doaba, after the meeting with 30 farmers organisations, said that the goods train will be allowed to operate, however, the protests near toll Plaza and Reliance would continue. The goods train will be allowed to run till November 5 only. They also said that till the time their demands are fulfilled, Punjab Farmers will continue with their protest. Rail Roko agitation is being staged in Amritsar demanding that the Centre's 'black laws' be withdrawn. The next meeting of Punjab farmers have been scheduled to be held on November 5. Punjab government, during Vidhan Sabha’s special session, had moved resolutions rejecting the Centre’s farm laws 2020. The three Bills are The Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Special Provisions and Punjab Amendment Bill, 2020, The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services (Special Provisions and Punjab Amendment) Bill, 2020, and The Essential Commodities (Special Provisions and Punjab Amendment) Bill, 2020. -PTC News
