Punjab Government appoints four new SSPs

Chandigarh (Punjab), April 12: The Punjab government on Monday appointed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in four districts of the state, informed the officials. The orders were issued on Monday night, appointing Rajpal Sandhu, Avneet Kaur Sidhu, Sandeep Sharma and Ravi Kumar as SSPs. Rajpal Sandhu has been made SSP of Batala, while Avneet Kaur Sidhu is appointed to Faridkot. Sandeep Sharma and Ravi Kumar have been made SSPs of SBS Nagar and Khanna respectively. Punjab Police Transfers: Three IPS officers among 90 DSPs transferred Meanwhile, Punjab DGP VK Bhawra in a press conference on Monday said that number of murders in the state has decreased this year, contrary to the allegations made by the opposition that the murders in the state were on the rise. He further informed the media that the monthly average of murders in the state is 50 this year, compared to about 65 or 70 previously. The DGP also said that "even though murders in the state are on the decline, I'm not saying we should be happy about these figures. We need to reduce the murder rate in the state." Furthermore, during the press conference, DGP Bawara urged all sections of society to work together to reduce crime. He claimed that the state's law and order situation has deteriorated in recent days and police have been working to maintain peace in the state.
