The schedule was announced by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday. “The India-Pakistan match on November 1 in Jalandhar will be one of the biggest attractions of the tournament. The match coincides with Punjab Day, making the occasion even more special for the people of the state,” Mann said.

Despite strained ties between the two countries, Mann said the Indian government had approved Pakistan’s participation.

“Pakistan have confirmed their participation. The Indian government has also cleared their travel as this is a tournament and not a bilateral event,” he said.

Hockey India's Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh, Director General Cdr RK Srivastava, Executive Board Member RP Singh and Hockey Punjab President Nitin Kohli were also present.

The tournament is set to feature some of the continent’s top hockey nations, with India, Pakistan, South Korea, Malaysia, China and Japanlisted among the participating teams. Oman and Bangladesh are the reserve teams.

The Punjab Chief Minister also posted about the event in post on X in Punjabi.
