Hanuman Jayanti 2023: Hanuman Jayanti is a Hindu festival celebrated to honour the birth of Lord Hanuman, the divine devotee of Lord Rama. The festival falls on the full moon night in the month of Chaitra (March-April) and marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year. Hanuman is also believed the incarnation of Lord Shiva. 

Hanuman Jayanti this year is celebrated on April 6, it is also known as Chaitra Poornima. The story of Hanuman Jayanti dates back to the time of Ramayana, when Lord Hanuman was born to Anjani and Kesari and blessed with strength, invincibility and devotion. He is known for his loyalty and selfless service to Lord Rama and his fight against evil forces.

It is believed that Lord Hanuman was born at sunrise. Hence, on Hanuman Jayanti, temples start spiritual discourses at dawn before sunrise.

The day is celebrated with utmost joy and enthusiasm in Hindu temples across India. People gather to sing devotional songs and chant mantras in praise of Lord Hanuman. Special poojas, such as the Ganesh-Hanuman puja, and aartis are performed to seek his blessings. Prasad is distributed among the devotees.

Significance of Hanuman Jayanti
