Russia warns US, NATO of 'consequences' over arming of Ukraine
Washington, April 16: Russia has warned the US of "unpredictable consequences" if it continues to deliver weapons to Ukraine. This comes just days after the Joe Biden administration announced an additional USD 800 million in military assistance. According to the Washington Post, a diplomatic note sent by Russia to the US this week warned that US and NATO supplies of the "most sensitive" weapons systems to Ukraine could have "unpredictable consequences." "We call on the United States and its allies to stop the irresponsible militarization of Ukraine, which implies unpredictable consequences for regional and international security," the note stated. According to the media outlet, the shipments were "adding fuel" to the conflict, the note also said. Notably, the US military aid package included artillery systems, artillery rounds, armoured personnel vehicles, and helicopters, bringing the total US aid to Ukraine since Russia's invasion to more than USD 2.4 billion.
