ICC Rankings: Shubman Gill holds second place, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul make gains

New Delhi, October 11: In the latest update of the ODI Batting Rankings, notable shifts have occurred, with star cricketers such as Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, and Dawid Malan making significant advancements. The ongoing ODI World Cup has witnessed a flurry of centuries in its first eight matches, leading to changes in the top positions of the MRF Tyres ICC Men's ODI Batting Rankings.

Quinton De Kock's remarkable century against Sri Lanka during the fourth match of the ODI World Cup has propelled the South African opener to the sixth position in the batting rankings. This achievement comes as De Kock approaches his final ODI tournament before retiring from the format.

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli closely follows De Kock, securing the seventh spot after delivering a brilliant match-winning performance against Australia in the ODI World Cup's opening game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This remarkable performance has pushed Kohli up by two places in the rankings.

England's opener, Dawid Malan, made a substantial leap by climbing seven places to claim the eighth spot in the batting rankings. Malan's exceptional 140-run innings against Bangladesh played a significant role in this advancement. Notably, his efforts have also resulted in a career-best rating of 711, putting him just four points behind Kohli and six points ahead of Pakistan's Imam-ul-Haq, who has slipped three places to ninth.

India's wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul has surged in the rankings, jumping 15 spots to secure the 19th position, all thanks to his impressive 97-run innings against Australia in the ODI World Cup. Meanwhile, South Africa's all-rounder Aiden Markram has climbed 11 places to the 21st position following his match-winning contributions at the start of the Cricket World Cup.

Despite facing initial challenges in the ODI World Cup, Pakistan's skipper Babar Azam maintains his top position in the ODI batting rankings.

Indian youngster Shubman Gill holds onto the second spot, despite being sidelined due to illness.

The ODI World Cup has also witnessed standout performances from bowlers. Australia's pacer Josh Hazlewood has claimed the top spot in the MRF Tyres ICC Men's ODI Bowling Rankings, moving up from 669 to 682 rating points. His performance, which included taking early wickets like Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer, helped India secure a win against Australia. On the other hand, Indian bowler Mohammed Siraj dropped five points and now holds the second spot in the bowling rankings, despite picking up Australia's last wicket.

Kuldeep Yadav, a prominent Indian spinner, has advanced three places to secure the eighth position in the bowling rankings after his performance against Australia. Ravindra Jadeja has leaped 22 places after taking three wickets (3/28) but remains outside the top 40 bowlers.

New Zealand's speedster Trent Boult maintains the third position, while Matt Henry holds the fifth spot in the bowling rankings.

In the realm of all-rounders, Bangladesh's captain, Shakib Al Hasan, retains the top position in the MRF Tyres ICC Men's ODI All-rounder Rankings. Mitchell Santner of New Zealand is the only all-rounder who has moved higher within the top 10, following his exceptional performance of 2/37 against England, 5/59 against Netherlands, and a quickfire 36* in a player-of-the-match performance in the World Cup.
