India defend Archery gold: Women's compound team beat China with world record equalling score at Asian Games
PTC News Desk: India won its seventh gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya after the women’s Compound Archery team successfully defended its title.
The team of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep and Chikita Thaniparthi defeated China 238-234 in the final to secure the gold.
India had also beaten South Korea 234-233 in the semi-final. The Korean team fought back strongly and levelled the score at 175-175, but India regained the lead in the closing stages. Two 10s from Chikita and Prithika, along with a nine from Jyothi, helped India secure the narrow victory.
With this win, India retained the women's compound team gold they had won at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games. The team also matched the world and Asian record score of 238, set by South Korea in 2014.
