Assam Rifles patrol attacked near India-Myanmar border, jawan killed, 4 injured
PTC Web Desk: One Assam Rifles personnel was killed and four others were injured after a patrol team allegedly came under fire from suspected militants near the India-Myanmar border in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district on Tuesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Havildar Jangkhokai Kuki, 42.

Attack during border patrol
The incident took place at around 6.30 am near Nampong Nallah under Nampong Circle, officials said. The personnel belonged to the 21 Assam Rifles and were patrolling an area where work related to border fencing was underway.
According to preliminary information, suspected militants opened fire on the patrol team. One jawan was killed in the attack, while four others suffered injuries.
The injured personnel were moved to a medical facility for treatment. Their current condition has not yet been officially disclosed.
Security forces step up operations
Changlang Superintendent of Police Kirli Padu confirmed that authorities had received information about the incident.
The SP said the officer-in-charge of Changlang police station had been directed to collect details and establish what happened.
Security forces have increased operations in the area following the attack. Further information about the assailants and the circumstances surrounding the firing is awaited.
An official statement from the Assam Rifles is also awaited.
Sensitive India-Myanmar border
Parts of the India-Myanmar border in Changlang have remained sensitive because of the presence and movement of insurgent groups operating in the region and across the international boundary.
The latest incident comes as security personnel continue to maintain a close watch along the border, particularly in areas where infrastructure and fencing work is being carried out.
