Vinesh Phogat Disqualification:  In a big blow to India's medal hopes from the wrestling arena, Indian wrestling star Vinesh Phogat has been disqualified from the Women’s Wrestling 50kg category at the Paris Olympics 2024 due to being overweight.

The Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya made a statement in the Parliament saying that the Indian Olympic Association has lodged a strong protest to the sport’s world governing body United World Wrestling (UWW).

Mansukh Mandaviya further said, “The Indian Olympic Association has lodged a strong protest with the International Wrestling Federation (UWW) over this matter.”
