Virat Kohli leaves for India amid family emergency, to return before first test against South Africa
PTC Web Desk: Star Indian batsman Virat Kohli had to rush back to India from South Africa due to a family emergency, but is expected to join the team before the start of the first Test against South Africa. According to India Today, Virat Kohli received permission from the team management and the BCCI to leave the ongoing practice match in Pretoria, South Africa, and head back to Mumbai. He is slated to make a comeback on Friday (December 22) and be available for the upcoming Test series.
Virat Kohli had been on a break during the T20I series and the ODIs of the South Africa tour. The T20I series ended in a 1-1 draw due to the first match being washed out. The India cricket team clinched the ODI series with a 2-1 victory, highlighted by Sanju Samson's maiden century in the deciding match. Notably, Arshdeep Singh shone with an outstanding performance, claiming 10 wickets, including a remarkable five-wicket haul.
After the completion of the ODI series and the three-day game, the entire Indian team will assemble in Johannesburg. They will then head to Centurion for the upcoming Test match, scheduled to begin after the Boxing Day Test on December 30. The team will later move to Cape Town for the second and final Test starting on January 3.
