Tamil Nadu: Medical aspirant kills self over NEET exam fear

In a shocking incident, a 19-year-old medical aspirant, who was preparing to appear for her second attempt in NEET, committed suicide. The last words from her read: “All of you have so many expectations from me. I am sorry. If I do not get a (medical) seat in a college, all your hard work for me will go in vain. I am sorry. I am tired.” A 19-year-old medical aspirant from Madurai was preparing to appear for her second attempt in NEET on Sunday. However, killed herself by hanging from a ceiling fan at her home in Madurai, a day before the exam. She has been identified as Jothi Sri Durga. She completed her Class 12 last year. She took a break to prepare for NEET to fulfill her childhood dream to become a doctor. However, the pressure seems to have demotivated her and led her to take the extreme step of committing suicide. The letter and audio message recorded by Durga is in the public domain. Durga, in her letter, thanked her family for the love showered on her. She is the third teenager to commit suicide in Tamil Nadu in the past one month. Earlier, a 19-year-old girl from Coimbatore and another 19-year-old boy from Ariyalur took their life due to fear of NEET. -PTC News
