Punjab Assembly elections 2022: He was elected to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha for the first time in 2002 and again in 2012. He also served in the Union Ministry of External Affairs. He remained OSD of the late Beant Singh, the then Chief Minister of Punjab.
He is member of the Punjab Congress Committee and All-India Congress Committee, organising secretary, secretary and president district Congress committee, Nawanshahr, general secretary and now vice-president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee.
He attended almost all sessions on propagating the socialistic and secular ideology of the Congress committee. He worked for the upliftment of the downtrodden,destitute and socially, educationally and economically weaker sections of society.
He is also chairman and member of different committees of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha and also a member of the Committee on Welfare of Scheduled Caste and Backward Classes and Committee on Subordinate Legislation. He visited various countries to study the living conditions of Indians over there.
