Punjab Police cat Gurmeet Singh Pinky, who rose to fame after arresting Jagtar Hawara, dies
Mohali, October 25: Punjab Police cat Gurmeet Singh Pinky, known as Pinky Cat, passed away after a brief illness at a private hospital in Chandigarh on Wednesday. He was serving a life sentence for the 2001 murder of Avtar Singh Gola in Ludhiana.
Gurmeet Singh Pinky gained notoriety for apprehending Khalistani terrorist Jagtar Singh Hawara on two occasions. He had also received a police gallantry medal, but his involvement in Gola's murder led to controversy. Punjab Police cat Gurmeet Singh Pinky once asserted that he possessed evidence of 52 fabricated encounters during the Punjab terrorism era. During the farmers' protest against the farm laws, Pinky Cat became embroiled in another controversy.
