Online Shopping Woes: Customer gets Thomson TV instead of Sony TV worth Rs 1 Lakh; Flipkart responds

PTC Web Desk:In the realm of online retail, the occasional mix-up and misdirected orders are familiar woes, often resulting in customers receiving items different from their intended purchases. A recent incident highlights the frustration experienced by one individual in his dealings with the well-known e-commerce platform, Flipkart.

Aryan, an eager customer who had been eagerly awaiting Flipkart's Big Billion Days sale to secure a Sony TV, had envisioned the perfect setup for enjoying the ongoing ICC Men's ODI World Cup. However, his enthusiasm took a nosedive as he unwrapped the delivered TV, only to discover it was not the sought-after Sony model but an inferior Thomson TV from a different manufacturer.

Frustrated by this unexpected twist, Aryan took to a social media platform to voice his discontent. He posted images of the unboxing, underscoring the TV's arrival without essential accessories like a stand and a remote. Despite his prompt attempts to rectify the situation, including contacting Flipkart's customer service and providing requested images, Aryan's predicament persisted, leaving him dissatisfied for two weeks.

In his online outcry, Aryan shared, "I had made a purchase of a Sony TV from @Flipkart on October 7th, received it on October 10th, and had the Sony installation technician arrive on October 11th. To our astonishment, during unboxing, we found a Thomson TV within the Sony box, devoid of any accompanying accessories such as a stand or remote."

A sense of frustration continued to escalate as Aryan grappled with Flipkart's customer service. "Initially, they had promised a resolution by October 24th, but on the 20th, they prematurely marked it as resolved and then extended the deadline to November 1st. Even today, they claim the issue is resolved, yet my return request remains unprocessed. I had been anticipating the Big Billion Days to purchase a TV, allowing me to relish the World Cup on a grand screen. Regrettably, the service from FK has plunged me into unbearable stress. Please assist," he implored.

In response to Aryan's widely circulated grievance, Flipkart issued an apology, expressing, "We extend our sincerest apologies for your unsatisfactory experience with the return request. We are committed to resolving this matter for you. Please send us a direct message with your order particulars to maintain confidentiality."

It is worth noting that Aryan's television delivery was entrusted to Delhivery, a logistics company that, during the delivery process, does not afford customers the opportunity to inspect their items.

This incident has garnered substantial attention across social media platforms, with numerous individuals commiserating with Aryan and sharing analogous accounts of their own online shopping woes. Some have expressed their reluctance to purchase high-value or large electronic items from online retailers, underscoring the inherent challenges in addressing issues of this nature.
