Watch: Video of fuel theft from PRTC buses in Punjab's Patiala goes viral
Patiala, March 24:
A day after Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched anti-corruption helpline in the state, a viral video has surfaced from Patiala wherein fuel is being 'stolen from government PRTC buses'. The video is being widely shared on various social media platforms.
When contacted, PRTC MD Parneet Shergill said the viral videos of fuel being stolen from PRTC buses had come to his notice. He said they had received complaints in this regard earlier also. "We will start investigation and whosoever is found guilty will be punished," he added.

On the other hand, to prevent fuel theft in buses, Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) had recently installed vehicle tracking system (VTS) in all its buses. The new system would track bus routes and thereby any diversion from stipulated route to facilitate the pilferage of oil.

As per sources, many PRTC drivers and conductors were involved in the fuel theft, allegedly in connivance with the oil mafia.
As part of their modus operandi, drivers take buses to isolated areas and steal diesel from and sell it to make money. As per information, New Delhi and Amritsar are the cities where oil mafia is more active.
