Airlines on high alert as US-Iran tensions escalate, several international flights impacted

PTC News Desk: Several leading international airlines have suspended flights to the Middle East as geopolitical tensions continue to escalate. Major carriers such as KLM, Lufthansa, and Air France have halted services to parts of the region due to concerns over a potential military conflict between the United States and Iran.

Key destinations, including Israel, Dubai, and Riyadh, have been affected by the flight cancellations.

Air France announced a temporary suspension of flights to Dubai, citing the volatile security environment. Meanwhile, Dutch airline KLM has stopped operating routes that require aircraft to pass through the airspace of Iran, Iraq, and other neighboring countries.

Reasons Behind the Disruptions

The sudden travel disruptions stem from fears that the US may take military action against Iran, increasing the risk of a broader confrontation. The tensions are reportedly linked to Iran’s violent response to recent protests against Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s regime.

US President Donald Trump has claimed that an American “armada” is heading toward Iran, despite earlier signals suggesting military action was unlikely. Although the White House confirmed last week that Iran had temporarily halted executions of protesters, US military preparations appear to be ongoing.
