PTC News Desk: Pakistan’s security forces were hit by a fresh surge of violence on Tuesday, as two separate terror attacks in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) claimed at least 11 lives. Among those killed were senior security officials and civilians, highlighting a sharp rise in regional unrest.

The militant outfit Ansar-ul-Islam took responsibility for one of the attacks. Earlier the same day, another deadly assault targeted a police vehicle in the Kohat area of northwestern KP. Militants ambushed a routine patrol van, opened fire on the officers, and later set the vehicle ablaze, signaling a significant shift in their tactics.

Ansar-ul-Islam, historically identified as a Barelvi extremist group operating in the Khyber region under the leadership of Pir Saifur Rahman, reportedly claimed its first suicide-style mission of this kind in Punjab.

Casualties: A total of seven people were killed in one of the attacks, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Asad Mehmood and four other police personnel. Two civilians also lost their lives in the crossfire.
