Hamas launches 'major missile attack' on Tel Aviv for first time in months

PTC News Desk: For the first time in months, rocket sirens sounded on Sunday throughout central Israel, including in Tel Aviv, as Hamas asserted that it had launched a volley of missiles from Gaza, according to news agency Reuters.

The al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, declared a "big missile" assault on Tel Aviv. The Israeli military reportedly replied by alerting the central city's sirens to approaching rockets.

Al-Qassam Brigades claimed responsibility for the rocket launches in a statement posted on their Telegram channel, citing "Zionist massacres against civilians" as the reason for the launch.

It was confirmed by Hamas' Al-Aqsa TV that the rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip.

This was the first time rocket sirens had been sounded in Tel Aviv in four months. The Israeli military did not provide an explanation for the sirens' reason right away. Emergency medical services in Israel reported that they were not aware of any casualties.
